Field Service Technician

Join our team as a Field Service Technician and play a vital role in providing service and customer support during field visits and dispatches.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all on-site equipment installation, equipment start-up, troubleshooting and field repair, preventative maintenance, and test tasks.
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports.
  • Master and follow all internal company processes and procedures.
  • Maintain an understanding of company products and subcomponents by attending company provided training sessions as assigned.
  • Travel within the U.S. approximately 90% of the time.  Occasional worldwide travel may also be required.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.  Military experience is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Competency in field service including installation and equipment start-up a plus.
  • Hands on use of electronic test equipment and/or DC Power experience.
  • Basic battery knowledge.
  • Electronic (Ohm’s Law) knowledge.
  • General Safety and Arc Flash Safety (NFPA70).
  • Ability to work with hands, in tight spaces, in various work environments, lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, Windows, Network Settings).
  • Good interpersonal people skills, excellent communicator, self-motivated.

Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise in analog and digital design, as well as embedded firmware development, to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing battery monitors for large standby battery systems used in data centers, utilities, and telecommunication industries. This position requires a conceptual, creative thinker, able to take engineering ideas through the proof-of-concept level to final design and successfully into production. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring the efficient and accurate monitoring of battery systems, contributing to the development of cutting-edge solutions for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop battery monitor systems, encompassing analog and digital circuitry, as well as embedded firmware.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to understand client requirements, technical specifications, and industry trends related to battery monitoring.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, firmware developers, and product managers, to define system architecture and design requirements with a focus on security.
  • Utilize your expertise in analog design to create circuit schematics, select appropriate components, and optimize performance.
  • Develop embedded firmware to facilitate data acquisition, signal processing, and communication protocols for battery monitoring systems, following best practices for secure software development.
  • Create Bills of Materials, assemble prototypes (soldering), and perform rigorous testing and verification of designs, utilizing appropriate tools and techniques, to ensure compliance with performance specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to circuit design, firmware functionality, and system integration.
  • Perform source code analysis and utilize secure coding techniques to identify and address potential vulnerabilities in firmware.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to provide technical support during the production and assembly of battery monitoring systems.
  • Stay updated with advancements in battery technologies, electrical engineering principles, and industry best practices, and apply them to improve designs, optimize performance, and enhance system security.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports, to ensure comprehensive and accurate records.
  • Assist service department personnel in troubleshooting and resolving issues technical issues in the field.
  • Work closely with other departments (Production, Sales, Service, etc.) to receive feedback on designs and products developed.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in analog and digital circuit design, preferably involving the design of measurement systems or related domains.
  • Strong proficiency in embedded firmware development, including programming languages such as C/C++.
  • Advanced math skills that include DSP techniques
  • Proficient with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Eagle).
  • Familiarity with simulation and analysis software (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB, OCTAVE, Simulink) to model and validate circuit designs.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, processors, and digital signal processors (DSPs) commonly used in embedded systems.
  • Solid understanding of communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, TCP/IP) and experience integrating them into firmware designs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and firmware issues using test equipment (including DMMs, oscilloscopes, and power supplies).
  • Ability to design to UL, ETL, CE, and ROHS standards and work within ISO 9001-certified processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy, quality, and adherence to project deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Windows and Linux computer skills are required.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office.

Remote Monitoring Specialist

The Remote Monitoring Specialist is responsible for tracking specific metrics in real-time and sending alerts or notifications to contract customers when readings do not meet set thresholds, making it easier to quickly resolve the issues that are causing them. Due to the nature of this position, a high level of customer interface is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide battery-monitoring services to contracted customers.
  • Collect, report, and archive data as battery issues and conditions occur.
  • Evaluate alarm data and take necessary steps to notify the customer with recommendations for addressing any issues in accordance with their contract.
  • Provide customers with vital and timely trending and analysis data.
  • Maintain a strong comprehension of the company’s battery monitoring data management software with emphasis on data interpretation and necessary follow-up corrective action.
  • Have a fundamental understanding of the company’s entire product and service offering.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 2 Year Technical Degree or Work Experience in a Technical field is preferred.
  • Technical Degree in Electronics is a plus.

 

Requirements:

  • One to two years’ experience in working in or managing a customer support center function.
  • A general knowledge or aptitude to learn about battery technology and service requirements for the various battery types.
  • Strong computer literacy with an understanding of archiving, trending, and database management.
  • Proficient writing skills to facilitate report writing and advisory services relative to the systems being monitored.
  • Possess a good business acumen, be a team player and self-driven to achieve agreed to stretch goals.
  • Candidate will possess good overall communication skills to effectively interface at all levels.
  • Build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships, internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines with strong time management skills.
